Information about linking to this site:
| I have found that there are a number of people who have, or want to link to this site. | |
| I have no problem with this if you want to post a link on your own website or send it to somebody or whatever the need is, however: |
There is something you need to know to do this properly.
| Due to restrictions put in place by my ISP, I have had to do what they call a port redirect to make this site visible on the internet. The only challenge with that is that my website shows up in your address bar as an IP number, rather than the named address. The problem with that is I have a dynamic IP address. See definition below. So if you link with the IP number instead of the text address, the next time my IP changes, your link will go dead. |
Definitions
As the name implies Static IP addresses are the same every time you connect. dynamic IP addresses may change each time you connect to the network (e.g. Internet).
| The solution to this is to write the name in your link. At this time, I am planning to change the name of my website to eliminate the spaces in the name of my rebuild site. This site is not actually my true homepage, but rather a link from my homepage. With the spaces in the name, it shows up with a couple of %20's in the name, which looks confusing. Because I am a total novice at building websites, I did not know this until long after I did it, otherwise I would have made the title with no spaces. | |
| I have been contacted by others to tell me their links don't work and they thought maybe I shut the site down or something. The preceding explanation tells why this happened. | |
| When I change the website name, I also will have to create a page to redirect existing links to the new name so nobody loses my address, but I haven't had time to do that yet. |
| So, if you want to post a link, please email me via the link in my rebuild homepage and I will provide you with the correct name to use! |
Hope this helps!
