Rebuilding the walls:

bulletThe floor is finally rebuilt. Now it's time to get into the walls and make sure they are solid.

Wall beside door:

This one didn't look too healthy from the outside. Doesn't look very promising from the inside, either

Sigh! More rotten wood to replace:

Ugh! looks like I have to rebuild the whole bottom of the wall.

In front of wheelwell:

Not much left here. Bottom plate is gone and the rest is rotten

Above the door:

Note the water stains on the metal wire gaurd. This things's been leaking a long time. The fridge goes below here

Door side wall:

I tried to remove the panels intact. They were 95% delaminating. Tear it all out & replace them. Darn! This window leaks, too.

Front Corner - Kichen side:

This window leaked the worst, as evident in the panelling. Sure wish I could find some panels to match.

Above Kitchen:

The top panels are rotted out. Studs seem OK

Bolting down the floor:

Easier to bolt down the floor to the frame when the walls are not attached

Side wall #1 rebuild:

If you're going to take something apart, you may as well get after it!

Side wall #1 rebuild:

Some of the new framework is leaning against the old wall

Top of side wall:

The whole top plate of the wall needs replacing and most of the studs

Bottom of wall:

New cross piece support in place. Bottom of the studs are all rotten - most of them anyways

Looking out:

This thing is sure getting wobbly. Have to be careful not to knock it over. Don't need to open a window for fresh air!

One side wall rebuilt:

Voila! - I had to rebuild the whole wall up to the door. Very little was salvageable, so I replaced it all.

Kitchen side wall:

Can't find matching panelling - may as well rip it all off & have a peek in there!

Fresh water opening:

Something else they did not seal properly at the factory.

Top of wall:

The whole top plate of the wall has to be replaced. The top of the studs are rotten, too.

Fresh water cutout from outside:

Well, I guess I'm replacing all this too.

Shore power opening:

Through all this, I'm still hooked up and using my shore power inside. It will have to be removed to fix this area.

2nd side view

May as well tear all the siding off so I can fix it right. I have now determined that the entire wall has to be rebuilt.

Front wall section:

I am leaving the existing wall and replacing it in sections so I match it perfectly. Got to make sure it all fits when I'm done!

Front of wall #2:

This section was complicated - lots of little pieces to fabricate and fit.

Front - The Final Frontier!

Uncharted territory - I have not had this apart yet. By the looks of things, I'm replacing the entire front. Much water damage around the window; top and bottom.

Front inside:

Did not take much to crumble this in. I gave it a bunt with my hand. Yep! - the whole front is going to be replaced.

Front inside #2:

After removing the panelling, the water damage was visible. The top damage is from the roof leaking.

My little grandson:

Watcha doin', grandpa??

He likes to wander out and inspect my work whenever he visits. 19 months old.

Outside front corner:

Panelling is badly delaminated here. Looks OK, but I put my hand right through it.

Top of front wall:

First part of the front wall removed for rebuild.

Front upper wall area:

Theres how you air it out. Can I go down the highway like this?

Front upper panel:

Upper panel rebuilt and ready to install:

Upper front installed:

Theres the first section in place. Now onto the lower panel.

Lower section of front wall:

Most of the new pieces cut and ready for assembly. As with all the walls, it will be glued, stapled and screwed together for a solid unit.

Front rebuilt:

Well, there is the whole front rebuilt. Ahhh! What next? Maybe a cold one?

Remember that "Only piece of floor left?"

Well, I decided that there is no point in leaving one old piece of floor

Last piece of floor replaced:

So, I ripped it out and put in a new one. The original was a little hard to strip the old lino anyways

Front wall - Inside view:

Theres how it looks from the inside - all new framing.

Kitchen and bedroom side wall:

Sure is nice to see all that new wood!

Door side wall:

Looks kinda neat with everything replaced.

Sides and back:

And a shot taken from the front back.

bulletWell, that's it for the major structural rebuild. All the plywood floor has been replaced and every last piece of wood in all the walls is new. You may note that there is no photos of the rear wall. I have had to leave that wall open until the end because the only way to get the floor to ceiling cabinets back in is through the back. There will be photos of that part later.
bulletTime now to move on to re-assembly!

I wonder what my neighbors think of me..........
